Govt. Industrial Training Institute Shamshi was established in the year 1962 with two Trades. The Govt. ITI is situated on Kullu Manali National Highway 21 & 2Km. from Bhuntar Air port. Presently there are 16 Trades with 52 Units in engineering & Non Engineering including COE in Electrical Sector having total strength of 1061.
Govt. ITI Shamshi has been upgraded as A-Grade Govt. ITI w.e.f 9-Feb-2010. The classes are functioning in three shifts w.e.f. Feb-2010.
The IMC for Govt. ITI Shamshi has also been notified vide Notification No. EDN(TE)A(2)1/96-Loose dated:-14.11.2003. The Payment Seat & COE is functioning under the control of IMC. Under COE budget provision of 3.5 crores has been made under 75: 25 ratio of center and State Government.
Govt. ITI Shamshi has also been selected for starting the hospitality Courses. The grant to the tune of Rs. One Crore has also been received the Courses shall be started w.e.f Aug-2012.
Govt. ITI Shamshi has also started LMV Motor Driving Training W.e.f. Feb-2011 after the approval of IMC and Director Transport letter No. CT-12-1(756)DTS/2010 dated:-27.1.2011.
Modular Employable Skill under Skill development initiative Scheme in 106 courses in 12 Sectors in the various flexible Delivery Mechanism ( Part time week ends full time, onsite /offsite to suit needs of various target groups) through DGE&T Govt. of India has been started w.e.f. 2007.
Govt. ITI Shamshi has also been selected for starting Centre of Excellence in Electrical Sector under Retroactive financing in the year 2006. The new three storey block of COE building is in final stage of completion.
The short term Vocational Courses of NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) has also been started in Govt. ITI Shamshi w.e.f 2002.
